Let's Go Doyers!!!!!

The Dodgers added to their lead in the Wild Card race by picking up a big 19-11 victory over the Colorado Rockies yesterday, combine that with the Phillies 3-1 loss at Washington and the Dodgers are now 2 up on the Phillies with 3 to play and just one back of the Padres for the NL West title. The story of the day was rookie James Loney who played in place of Nomar Garciaparra at first and came up with a HUGE day. Loney who had 8 RBI's on the year coming into the game had 9 yesterday. Loney has played well while he has been up in the majors and I think he's close to ready for the full time gig. If Nomar asks for too much money I wouldn't be opposed to letting him go and giving Loney the job.

The other big baseball news of the day was the announcement that Pedro Martinez will be out for the season with a torn calf. Looking at the standings I would rather play the Mets to begin with since Houston is just on fire right now and the Dodgers can never beat the Cardinals to save their lives so I would rather win the wild card and face the Mets who are not used to the pressures of October baseball. Picks of the week will be up later today.
